Deciduous tree or shurb with sprawling branches and leaves that turn bright yellow or red in autumn. Reddish-purple sepals and pinkish-white petals make up the small flowers, followed by winged red fruits that grow in clusters at the end of the shoots. Vine-like in shade, large shrub or small tree in full sun. One of the most airy and delicate western natives. An important tree for wildllife, providing nesting sites, food and cover for many birds and mammals.
