This is an upright to rounded deciduous tree. Leaves are dense, ovate and often lobed. At maturity they are burgundy to dark green and up to 3-inches long. Red buds develop into pink-red flowers in spring. Fruit are dark wine-red, persistent, and approximately the size of a cherry. Grows 15 to 25-feet tall and 10 to 20-feet wide. This tree does well in most soil, but will be more attractive if fed peat and compost.
