This milkweed has a wider native range and much more garden tolerance than most of the other native species. This perennial boasts many thin, erect stems growing to 3-feet tall and long, narrow, pointed leaves 5-inches in length. It blooms in clusters of lavender or lavender-tinted white flowers. The fruits are smooth milkweed pods which split open to spill seeds along with plentiful silky hairs.
