This perennial has light pink to purple, sometimes reddish or rosy colored flowers and kidney-shaped leaves on 2 to 4-foot tall stems covered with branched or star-like hairs. In Oregon, it is known to occur in rolling upland, wetland prairies, wetlands, and deciduous and evergreen forests of the Willamette Valley.
