Name: Sapphire Blue Oat Grass
Latin Name: Helictotrichon sempervirens 'Sapphire'

Soil: Well-drained to Dry, Poor/Semi-Fertile
Zone: 4-9

Clump-forming, wiry, vivid blue-grey leaves radiate out from the center to form a bristling, round dome of foliage to 2-feet tall. The panicles are white to beige and are born on tall stems (sparse flowering in hot/humid weather). Interesting companion plantings are Russian Sage and Sedum 'Autumn Joy'. Plants growing in excessive shade make weak growth and have an open habit.
